Question 3:
A lot of people use public transport like the metro trains daily. The trains are usually congested/overcrowded. Pushing, suffocation, angry faces and rumpled clothes upset travellers a lot. Write an article in 125-150 words on ‘Travelling in an Overcrowded Metro’. You are Suhani/Sushant. (10)
Or
Adolescence (12 – 18 years of age) is thought of as the most joyful period of a student’s life. Sharmila, who represents the adolescents of today, feels that the pressure of the currently competitive environment that we live in has made this age less exciting. She expresses her thoughts in an article entitled, ‘On Being an Adolescent Today’ for the students’ page of the Sunday section of a daily newspaper. Write the article in 150-200 words.
Answer:
Travelling in an Overcrowded Metro
by Sushant Dwedi
Delhi is looked at from an altogether different perspective since the inception of the Metro Rail. Lakhs of people commute daily by Metro making it the busiest public transport. Yet some people make the travelling experience annoying for others. People get very upset when they have to travel in an over-crowded Metro. Pushing, suffocation, angry faces or rumpled clothes are a common sight during the office hours. It is astonishing to observe that some people do it just for fun or for entertainment. There are constant complaints of pick-pockets and thefts. Commuters feel relieved only after getting off the train.
The defaulters are us only. Its’ high time we all should take up our responsibility and be courteous to fellow commuters. As a responsible citizen we should refrain from all kind of misbehaviour and stop others too from misbehaving. Let’s pledge to make Delhi Metro the best and the safest public transport of the country.
Or
On Being an Adolescent Today
by Sharmila, an adolescent
My parents and elders feel that I am poor in my studies. This is resented by me ever since the day I learnt to learn. The pressure of the competitive world has doused my enthusiasm for enjoying life. My adolescence has been ruined because of the high expectations of my elders. They try to portray false
images of themselves by constantly trying to show that they are successful in their careers and expect me to do the same. They feel that I am a complete idiot when it comes to my future. They feel that I am a poor student. However, I know that there are many careers which do not require brilliance, but just some social skills. I want to become a social activist.
Contrary to expectations, my group of adolescents is very involved in various social activities like making poor school dropouts literate, helping them to get jobs etc. But my elders interfere in my activities, which restricts the development of my personality. In this world of competitiveness, too much emphasis on studies without any other activities will prevent a harmonious development of my personality.
Question 4:
Write a speech in 150-200 words for your school morning assembly, explaining the ‘Swachh Bharat-Swachh Vidyalaya’ campaign. (10)
You have been asked to participate in a debate competition on the topic, ‘We are happier than our previous generation (our parents)’. Write a debate in favour of the motion in 150-200 words. You are Bhavna / Bishwajeet.
Answer:
Respected Principal sir, honourable teachers and dear friends.
Today I, Sammer Rastogi, will inform you about the ‘Swachh Bharat – Swachh Vidyalay Abhiyaan’ initiated by our Prime Minister. A key feature of this campaign, also known as ‘Clean India: Clean Schools’, is to ensure that every school in India has a set of functioning and well maintained water, sanitation and hygiene facilities.
Water, sanitation and hygiene in schools refers to a combination of technical and human development components that are necessary to produce a healthy school environment and to develop or support appropriate health and hygiene behaviours. The technical components include drinking water, hand washing, toilet and soap facilities in the school compound for use by all students and teachers. The human development components are the activities that promote conditions within the school and the practices of children that help to prevent water/hygiene and sanitation related diseases.
Having safe water, toilet and hygiene facilities in schools promotes equity. All children are equal in their right to access to safe drinking water, sanitation and hygiene facilities, and all children gain benefits through the improved hygiene practices promoted in schools.
We are implementing it in our school. Let us join hands to make it a success.
Thank you!
Or
Honourable Judges, my worthy opponents and dear students.
Today I, Bishwajeet of Class XII, will speak for the motion, ‘We are happier than our previous generation (our parents)’.
I am sure that my parents will agree with me – they did not have all the facilities which help to create an atmosphere of happiness when they were of my age. I am doing excellently in my studies – giving me immense happiness – due to the proliferation of information available over the interne^ which did not exist when my father was in Class XII. Even the large number of reference books in our school library has helped me a lot. Although my father studied in this school itself, there were hardly any reference books available in the library at that time.
Even for games, the facilities are truly wonderful. We have an Olympic standard sports arena due to the financial help given by the state government, due to which we can develop our potential for sports and games. No such arena was available 25 years ago.
Thus I am very happy and it reflects in the results I am getting in both my studies and in sports.
Thank you!
