Question 3:
Recently the success of the Indian space mission to Mars was in the news. Write an article in 150-200 words on ‘Mangalyaan a feather in India’s Cap. You are Saroj/Sameer.    (10)

Or

Children living in cities nowadays do not play outdoors much because they are too busy with other attractions like computer / mobile games or watching television programmes. Write a speech in 150-200 words for the morning assembly highlighting the need and value of outdoor games. You are Sameer / Saira.
Answer:

Mangalyaan a Feather in India’s Cap
by Saroj

Mangalyaan is truly a feather in the cap for India’s scientists! On September 23, 20XX, India’s Mars Orbiter Mission (Mangalyaan) successfully reached the position from where it entered Martian orbit. It had travelled 10 months, covering a distance of 661 million km to achieve this. ISROscientistsdidallthe manoeuvring with great skills. They pre-programmed its entry into Martian orbit, for which the command was in the satellite itself. This feat, executed with immaculate precision, was the result of a frugal innovation.
Mangalyaan’s cost is approximately one-tenth of the $670 million that NASA spent on its Maven explorer. European Space Agency’s Mars Express Orbiter cost about $386 million. ISRO minimised expenses by using relatively small rockets because of the low designed, engineered and procured scientific payload, about 15 kg, compared to Maven’s 65 kg.
The mission is a marvel not only in space science but also in project management. All aspects—cost, schedule and quality, have been met with excellence The Mangalyaan team consisting of 14 members has set a benchmark in project management, which-calls for close coordination between every functional area of management. It highlights India’s success sutra in the 21st century – innovation management.    ’

Respected Principal sir, honourable teachers and my dear friends.
Today, I, Saira of Class XII – C, will speak on the need and value of outdoor games during the schooldays.
Nowadays we rarely see children playing in the streets or parks neartheir homes. Hardly 20 years ago, in the evenings we could see groups of boys and girls playing in the streets and parks. They were running and jumping, playing badminton or cricket, and so on.
However, we should know that outdoor games and sports are essential for children. Play plus recreation and education go side by side. A sound mind resides in a sound body. A child with a strong body and fresh mind works harder than a student with a frail body and tired mind. Sports and co-curricular activities go to a long way in moulding the personality of an individual.
In contrast, today’s children waste their time on watching TV or playing video games, neglecting their studies in the bargain. This puts more strain on the eyes, causing such habits to become health hazards.
So let us go back to playing outdoor games and build a healthy mind and body.
Thank you!

Question 4:
You have heard that soon Delhi would be a free Wi-fi enabled city. Write a debate in favour of or against the motion ‘Delhi Should be a Free Wi-fi Enabled City’ in 150-200 words. You are Naisha/Nikunj.    (10)

Or

The news channels on TV give us instant news from every part of the world. But the importance of the newspaper remains intact. Write a speech for the morning assembly in 150-200 words expressing your views on ‘The Relevance of Newspapers., You are Kamal/ Kamla.
Answer:
Respected Judges, Principal, teachers and my dear friends.
I, Naisha Kapoor, strongly oppose the motion, ‘Delhi should be a Free Wi-fi Enabled City,. Instead I feel the funds should be properly used to help the needy, to build proper roads and for providing better supply of water and electricity. Wi-fi all over the city will increase cyber crime and financial thefts, also compromising the privacy of many people. Moreovers, we all know that radiation emitted affect the health of human as well as animals.
In my opinion, a person who can afford a smart phone can very well afford the cost of internet too. Enabling citizens with free medical services, giving better pension, opening more orphanages and government schools would help citizens far more than free Wi-fi would. Many foreign countries already have this facility, but then their citizens have much better amenities than we have. So, I firmly believe that giving free Wi-fi will not solve the core purpose of the state, but would only increase crime.

Respected Principal sir, honourable teachers and my dear friends.
Today, I, Kamal of Class XII, will speak on the relevance of newspaper in this modern age.
Newspapers are important for everyone, whether he is rich or poor, politician or social activist, businessman or employee of a company. Reading the newspaper in the morning is a very good habit. Due to advancement of time and technology and world events, newspapers have become very important in our day to day life.
It is true that the Electronic Media is very popular in current times. Television gives us breaking news from morning to evening. Although a .number of news channels are ready to give us news, but they cannot take place of the newspaper for depth of coverage, editor’s opinions and various features which are part of every newspaper. After waking up in the morning, one feels the necessity of looking at the newspaper, as it gives the complete idea of different types of information on all topics and makes us aware of what is happened in far off areas also.
In the rural areas, where electricity may not be available when we need it, the newspaper is the best means of knowledge and information.
Thank you!
