Question 1.
Which is greater ?
(i) 537 or 98
(ii) 2428 or 529
(iii) 2,59,467 or 10,35,729
Solution:
(i) 537 or 98
since 537 three digiit number and 98 is two digit number.
Hence, 537>98 and 537 is greater
(ii) 2428 or 529
since 2428 is four digit number and 529 is three digit number.
Hence, 2428 > 529 and 2428 is greater
(iii) 2,59,467 or 10,35,729
since 10,35,729 is seven digit number and 2,59,467 is six digit number.
Hence, 10,35,729 > 2,59,467 and 10,35,729 is greater
Which is smaller ?
(i) 428 or 437
(ii) 2497 or 2597
(iii) 3297 or 3596
Solution:-
(i) 428 or 437
here the both number are three digits.
hundreds place number are same but tens place number of first number is 2 and tens place number of second number is 3(greater)
so, 3 >2
428 < 437
437 is greater
(ii) 2497 or 2597
Here the both number are four digit
and thousands place number of both number is 2, hundreds place of first number is 4 and hundreds place of second number is 5.
so, 4 < 5
2497 < 2597,
2597 is greater
(iii) 3297 or 3596
Here the both number are four digit
and thousands place number of both number is 3, hundreds place of first number is 2 and hundreds place of second number is 5.
so, 2 < 5
3297 < 3596
3596 is greater
Question 3.
Which is greater ?
(i) 45293 or 45427
(ii) 380362 or 381007
(iii) 63520 or 63250
Solution:-
(i) 45293 or 45427
Here the both number are five digit.
ten thousands place number of both number is 4(same), thousands place number of both number is 5 (same), hundreds place of first number is 2 and hundreds place of second number is 4.
so, 2 < 4
45293 < 45427
(ii) 380362 or 381007
Here the both number are Six-digit.
Lakh place number of both number is 3 (same) and ten thousands place number of both number is 8 (also same). thousands place number of first number is 0,thousands place number of second number is 1.
so, 0 < 1
380362 < 381007
(iii) 63520 or 63250
45293 or 45427
Here the both number are five digit.
ten thousands place number of both number is 6(same), thousands place number of both number is 3 (same), hundreds place of first number is 5 and hundreds place of second number is 2.
so, 5 > 2
63520 > 63250
