Some Imporatant Definitions
Natural Numbers:
Counting numbers are called natural numbers. N = {1, 2, 3, …}
Whole Numbers:
Zero along with all natural numbers are together called whole numbers. Example {0, 1, 2, 3,…}
Even Numbers:
Natural numbers of the form 2n are called even numbers. Example (2, 4, 6, …}
Odd Numbers:
Natural numbers of the form 2n -1 are called odd numbers.
Example {1, 3, 5, …}
Example {1, 3, 5, …}
Prime Numbers :- A Numbers which can divisible by 1 or itself are called Prime Numbers. Example {2,3,5,7,11,13,17,.......}
Co-Prime Numbers:- H.C.F(Highest common factor) of both Numbers are 1and at least one prime numbers.
Example- (2,3) (5,4) (5,6) etc.
Example- (2,3) (5,4) (5,6) etc.
Twins Prime- Difference of both Co-prime Numbers are 2. Example:- (3,5) (5,7) (11,13) etc.
Real Numbers
Combination Of Rational And Irrational Numbers is called Real Numbers.
Rational Numbers- Any Number Which can Express or written in the form of p/q, wherw p,q are Integers & q not equal to zero.
Some Facts Of Rational Number:
- All Natural, Whole, Integers, Even, Odd, Prime, Fraction, decimals etc. numbers can be expressed as rational.
- 0/1 is a Rational Number But 1/0 is not a Rational Number
- zero is a Rational Numbers whose reciprocal also zero.
- Rational numbers can be positive or negative.
- Rational numbers have two kinds of arithmetic, the arithmetic of decimals and the arithmetic of common fractions
Irrational number— A number that can be represented by a point on the number line but which is not rational.
or
Any Number Which can not Express or written in the form of p/q is called Irrational Numbers
or
An irrational number cannot be fully written down in decimal form. It would have an infinite number of digits after the decimal point.
Examples-
1-Ï€ (Pi) is a famous irrational number.
Ï€ = 22/7 = 3.1428571428571...
2- Roots of primes like √2, √3, √5 etc. are irrational
Euclid’s Division Lemma : Given positive integers a and b,
there exist unique integers q and r satisfying a = bq + r, 0 ≤ r< b.
